Guybrush Threepwood - Force Unleashed IIGuyBrush Starkiller – Force Unleashed II

This is perhaps the greatest achievement of LucastArts in the last decade of gaming, besides resurrecting Monkey Island. They have taken their most popular and profitable game IP, Star Wars of course and married it with their most popular adventure gaming series from days of yore. A long time ago in a galaxy far far away… Guybrush Threepwood….. Starkiller. Not only is Guybrush sporting jedi weaponry, but dual-wielding at that. Head over to Kotaku for a little scoop on the Guybrush appearance in The Force Unleashed II. I wanna be a Jedi!

id Open-Source Love

Some slightly old news, which apparently was announced at Quake-con, is that id has continued its tradition of releasing source code for past games. This time around is the complete source to Return to Castle Wolfenstein, including the Enemy Territory code, which was the awesome free multiplayer component. I got a lot of mileage out of MP with this one. Can’t wait to see what people do with it, the super high-res packs can’t be far behind judging from their other source code releases.

NBA Elite Gets Dunked on, Backboard Broken

I had no intention of buying NBA Elite, I’m a 2k guy, and even with them I will have trouble forking over close to $60 again for just a few new features. That being said I don’t like to see delays (see my old article on Video Game Delays), because it often spells trouble not only for the end product, but the jobs of those involved. The bright side as far as gamers are concerned is that the previously attached “download code only” version of NBA Jam HD will be getting a separate release “before Christmas”, and it sounds like with all the features of the Wii version. I will probably get Nintendo’s release to satiate my old-timey arcade-basketball fix in the short term. Booom-sha-ka-la-ka!!!!!!!!!!

Coming up soon will be a review of Dead Rising 2 and a preview of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, with some nice video links. I pre-ordered mine for the $20 future game order from Amazon expired, and used my old Mafia 2 bonus coupon to get the Special Edition. I loves me some Castlevania.
