Alan returns to the Mount Red Tooth Observatory, As before this place is familiar; there 
are set tasks that he must do in order to rewrite the story and obtain more information from the satellite print-out. However, parts of this job are already accomplished, and the placement of items around the observatory have changed. Again the minions of darkness have increased in numbers and strength.
