Risen is a spiritual successor to the Gothic series. Two stowaways on a ship at sea witness 
as sorcerer (here know as an Inquisitor) battling a giant storm and some sort of monstrosity therein. A giant tidal wave close in on the ship and all is plunged into darkness. When our here awakes, he finds himself on a shore, surrounded by bodies and broken remnants of his ship.
