After making her way through a cliffside crumbling Yamati village she arrives in time to see the pilot killed. She continues to find her way forward and finds Roth. Along the way Lara finds a tomb “The Hall of Ascension”. Attempting to reach the co-pilot is met with a similar end. She encounters the leaders of these savage men and while partially unconscious gets a glimpse of a “Guardian”, possibly some mythical Japanese warrior.
