Treasure Island 1990 DVD Review
I’ve been waiting for this for quite awhile. Since 97-98 when I bought my first DVD player and in truth as far back as the early 90s when I could find no VHS copy to replace my taped off the television version. Some of this is ground I’ve already covered in previous Treasure Island posts. The wonderful extended cast which includes Oliver Reed as Billy Bones, Christopher Lee as Blind Pew, Christian Bale as Jim Hawkins, Julian Glover as Dr. … Continue reading

Where the Sidewalk Ends – L.A. Noire Gold Film Reel Series
Cementing the Sidewalk Crew Where the Sidewalk Ends is a 1950 Film Noir starring Dana Andrews and Gene Tierney. The writers for the film were headed up by Ben Hecht (making his second appearance on our list after 1946′s Hitchock masterpiece Notorious). The wonderfully simmering, desperate musical score was composed by Cyril K. Mockridge, perhaps best know for his television work with the music for Lost in Space and his Academy Award nomination for Guys and Dolls. Cinematography was provided … Continue reading

Walking Dead Special Edition & Season Two Trailer
Let’s jump right into it with the extended The Walking Dead Season Two trailer. Nearly 5 minutes of awesome. Walking Dead Season Two Trailer: From that trailer the story looks to be both deviating widely from the source material (again) but then also reconnecting with it as well as Rick carries a boy to the farm that was a crucial part of The Walking Dead story early on in the books/graphic novels. Season Two is still in production, so the … Continue reading

Upcoming Posts – July & August
I’ve been very busy with work, multiple weddings (not my own of course) and as such have left the site, as well as Facebook, Tumblr, even Google+ mostly dormant. Things should be getting back into a flow very soon. I have another wedding to attend (third in ten days) and a busy work week to finish, but things should settle down after that. When I find myself short on time I often save tons of “draft” posts in various states … Continue reading

Coen Brothers Collection Blu-ray
Coen Brothers – Blu-ray Summer The catalog of quality films from the Coen Brothers has always been somewhat slow to appease it’s fan-base in the non-theatrical sense. Slow to make it to DVD and in-turn slow to finally make it to HD on Blu-ray. Part of this has to do with the brothers unwillingness to visit old films and their need to control the presentation of them as well. They are very particular and given the quality and variety of … Continue reading
