Is Nothing Sacred? Ernest Rebooted James Schumacher, October 16, 2012October 19, 2012 Jim Varney’s corpse to get punked in ‘Son of Ernest’ Look, you’ll never hear from me that Ernest or his movies is high-brow top-notch film-making (or television back in the day). What I will tell you is that Jim Varney entertained me greatly as a child and as I aged I realized that he was in on the joke and his camp made it hard to not still enjoy it. As I became college age his filmed took on a new dimension with drinking games and a very memorable (somewhat) though short-lived party film-fest amongst my friends, forever known as Ernest-fest. Now nostalgia demands that one is outraged when childhood things are paraded out and trampled upon in front of your very eyes. Perhaps because such an exceedingly small amount of remakes even have enough quality to meet, let alone overcome that nostalgia. I don’t think anyone can replace Jim Varney here.. another tired Hollywood retread is inbound. from Public RSS-Feed of James Schumacher.
